Takapuna Beach since 2024

Our Vibe

Good people, good food, and a whole lot of sunshine.

How it started

Sundaze was born from a pretty simple idea. A group of mates who spent every weekend at Takapuna Beach kept saying the same thing: there was nowhere nearby that matched the energy of the water. The cafes were fine. The food was fine. But nothing felt like the beach itself. So we decided to build the place we wanted to hang out in.

We wanted somewhere that felt like a permanent Saturday morning. Big, colourful plates. Coffee that actually slaps. Music you can hear but still talk over. A place where the morning surfers could drip-dry at a table out front and nobody bats an eye. The name came naturally. Sunday plus daze. That golden-hour, salt-in-your-hair, zero-plans kind of feeling.

We source as locally as we can. Our eggs come from a farm in Kumeu, bread from a bakery in Birkenhead, and our coffee beans are roasted in Ponsonby. The fruit in our smoothies and acai bowls rotates with the seasons because that is when things taste best, not because it sounds good on a menu.

Sustainability is part of how we operate, not a marketing line. We compost everything we can, our takeaway packaging is fully compostable, and we are working toward zero food waste by the end of 2026. We are not perfect yet, but we are getting closer every week. Come in, grab a seat, and see for yourself.

What we're about

Good Vibes Only

We built Sundaze to be the kind of place where strangers become regulars and regulars become friends. No pretension, no dress code, just warmth.

Beach to Plate

Local suppliers, seasonal produce, and recipes that celebrate what grows nearby. Our menu changes with the land and the water around us.

Zero Waste Goals

Compostable packaging, on-site composting, and a real plan to hit zero food waste. We track it weekly and hold ourselves accountable.

Come hang

We are 50 metres from the sand, open every day from 6:30am, and we always save a table for walk-ins.
